The Brown University Classic PhD gown is manufactured in brown EarthGrad fabric with wide black velvet front panels and sleeve chevrons outlined in red braid. Two Brown University seals are embroidered on the front panels. The gown includes two full pockets.

The doctoral hood is manufactured in black fabric with red braid along the outer edge and a brown fabric-covered button on the back, with degree colored velvet. The cap is a black four-sided velvet Sure-fit tam with a gold bullion tassel.

The Brown University Master’s gown is manufactured in walnut EarthGrad fabric. It features red braid detailing around the yoke and black square tabs accented with embroidered red Brown University seals. The gown includes two full pockets and a secondary interior neck button.

The hood is manufactured in walnut EarthGrad fabric with a walnut base with degree colored velvet and red braid around the outer edge in non-standard placement, with a brown fabric-covered button on the back. The cap is a walnut EarthGrad mortarboard, paired with a brown tassel and a custom Brown University signet.
